In most years, the annual NFL Most Valuable Player award is synonymous with the league’s best quarterback — and 2020 looks to be following that same format.

The award, which has been handed out every year since 1957 by the Associated Press, currently has nothing but quarterbacks in the top five favorite positions, as determined by oddsmakers.

Russell Wilson (+278)

Wilson has been more than a bit hot so far this season, and has put up 925 yards with 14 touchdowns and just a single interception with a completion percentage of 76.7 percent. His team is undefeated and on a roll. He doesn’t look like he plans on slowing down anytime soon, and his coaches are letting him loose on defenses. Oddsmakers love it and Wilson has climbed to the top of the board in the MVP futures market with +278 odds. There might not be a ton of value there, but it might be worth it for those who see the Seahawks continuing to add Ws throughout the season.

Patrick Mahomes (+488)

Of course Mahomes is in the conversation for MVP. At this point in his career, can you count him out of anything? He’s got one league MVP to his name, as well as a Super Bowl MVP. He’s led his team to a 3-0 record and has thrown for 898 yards with nine TDs and zero interceptions. It’s never easy to repeat as a league award winner, so it’s hard to suggest everyone place their sports bets on Mahomes, but he’s intriguing.

Lamar Jackson (+563)

He’s shifty. He’s quick. He’s able to throw on the run. And he’s really, really hard to take down with a single defender. Jackson is the complete package, and he’s been the recipient of the MVP award in the past. There’s no doubt he has all the tools he needs to bring his team back to the playoffs and maybe on a deep run this year. Could he also land himself that MVP award? Indeed he could. He hasn’t put up the best numbers so far this season, but look for him to get hotter as the Ravens find their groove.

Aaron Rodgers (+950)

If there’s one thing that has become extremely well known in the NFL over the recent years, it’s that you can never count Rodgers out. If his team is behind in a game, he’ll find a way to try to bring them back. Are they out of playoff contention? Don’t worry, they’ll make a late-season run. Once they are in the playoffs, you never know what Rodgers can do. That’s why seeing him in the top five of the MVP futures discussion is no surprise. He’s thrown for 887 yards and has a 9:0 touchdown to interception ratio.

Josh Allen (+2200)

We decided to avoid just giving you a list of the top five favorites and went with a long shot on this one. Allen has been on fire, throwing for 1,038 yards with 10 touchdowns and just a single interception. His Bills are 3-0 right now, and they worked their way into the conversation about the best team in the AFC. Can Allen win the MVP award? The real question is: Why not? He’s got a strong arm, a darn good receiving corps and his team is on a roll. If Buffalo makes a run, you can be sure Allen is going to be one of the contenders. Might be worth considering a bet before the value starts to decline on this.
